Multiple Streams of Income Anyone?

The downtrend of our economy has caused us lots of hardships. Many Filipinos lost their jobs this year to due to downsizing companies and closure. A lot of my friends have lost their jobs and strugling to apply.

Having a stable job no longer secures your future, because we do not know what the economy would be in the next year or so. Murphy’s Law says

“Nothing is ever so bad it can’t get worse!”.

If you will loose you job next month can you survive? For how long? A week?, A month? 3 months or 6 months? One thing is certain, we need to finances to survive. If you rely on one source of income, then you are walking on a wire.

This is where the idea of Multiple Streams of Income plays a great role. Having multiple streams of income allows you to move on and stay balanced even if you loose one stream of income, say you job. By having multiple streams of income, you can have the advantage of keeping your finances steady while seeking for a new job.

Motorcycles help keep you young

I came across an article in the daily paper saying that researchers in Japan have discovered that driving motorcycles help keep you young.

According to Ryuta Kawashima - the designer of the popular “Brain Training” computer software, riding motorcycles help keep drivers young by invigorating their brains, “The driver’s brain gets activated by riding mortorcycles” in part because heightened alertness. 

“In a convenient and easy environment, the human mind and body get used to setting the hurdle low”, he warned. “Our final conclusion is that riding motorcycles can lead to smart ageing.”

I just wonder how does this differ from driving manual four wheel vehicles? One thing for sure, based on my observation that “If you are not carefull, motorcycles will keep you young because you won’t grow old.”

Movies to Watch

I had a marathon of movie watching lately. The last movie that I watched was 007’s Quantum of Solace. Its another action packed James Bond film, starring Daniel Craig - the best James Bond actor in my own opinion. Only this time, the movies story was dull. I can not even connect the movie title, “Quantum of Solace” to “There’s a fine line between professional and personal”. I could say that the movie is worth watching but not worth watching again. I give it a 6 out of 10 rating.

Prior to that I watched Leo d Caprio and Russel Crowes’ Body of Lies. Now this one is awesome. Leo brought this movie to the next level. The story just clicks! Great action sequences. I just love it. I could say that this movie is worth watching again. I give it a 9 out of 10 rating.

Eagle Eye also is one good movie. Its fast and acion-packed. Starring Shia Labeouf and Michelle Monaghan. I give this movie an 8 out of 10 rating. You would love this one.

Max Payne. Oh well I am kinda disappointed on the movie. Mark Whalberg just did well but the story is boring. I give it a 4 out of 10 rating. But its worth checking it out.

A Gloomy Day

Its a gloomy day at Metro Davao. Seems like its about to rain anytime. I went out this noon to gather some pictures on the upcoming mall-wide sales at the metro. I was caught by traffic and wasn’t able get any shots. 

Instead, I took some shots along the way through my PDA. The photos aren’t so clear, but at least I can share to you what I saw along the way.

Digital Filipino Club Event

I attended the Digital Filipino and Bloggers event at the Grand Regal Hotel. The event was sponsored by PAGCOR, who is a member of Digital Filipino Club.

The objective of the event is to establish network of bloggers all throughout the country. The event promotes blog awareness and shows the fun and opportunity in blogging.

The top 100 bloggers in the country according to ratified.org was presented. I am proud that my friend’s blog, jehzlau concepts got first in the list. Congratulations Jehz! I wish I could also enter the top 100 bloggers. Please help me in! hehehe

I met friends and schoolmates in the event. I also came to see Davao bloggers. It was an acquaintance. The venue was great, the food was great, and the crowd was great.

At the end of the program there was a live band performance, a mini poker tournament (I wish I know how to play poke, I could have joined), free food and drinks. Casino game checks were given to us.

The event was successful. Congratulations Digital Filipino and PAGCOR!

 I am looking forward for more events here in the city.

A Week at Metro Manila

Last week I went to Metro Manila for Java training. The training lasted for 5 days which gave me six nights of getting acquainted with the Metro.

I took a 7:30 pm flight from Davao to Manila via Philippine Airlines. The flight takes one and a half hour. I checked at Prince Plaza 2 along Legaspi and Dela Rosa streets, Makati. When I arrived at the hotel, I was so tired that I didn’t think about of going out.

On the second night, I went to Glorieta looking for a barber shop and have a haircut. I happened to stumble upon Brunos Barber Shop at the third level of Glorieta.  I also went to SM Ayala to buy some stuff. Along the way I bought Xander a set of MatchBox.

On the third night, my friends from Cebu went to the SM Mall of Asia. We tried the 3D IMAX. It was a great experience seeing a huge 3D movie. We had dinner at the Mandarin Wok, their food taste good. We visited the board walk and listened to live performances.

On the fourth night, we went to our friends hotel at Cubao. After dinner we search the area for places to hang out.

On the fifth night, I came to meet with Jehzlau a co-DOST scholar and a very successful blogger. We attended an art exhibit held at Fully Booked at Bonifacio High Street. I met new friends and bloggers. After the event we hang out at Krispy Kreme BHS with new friends.

On the sixth night we took our course facilitator, Santosh Ashok, from Bangalore India for a night tour. We went to Glorieta to look some place for dinner but could not find any. One of my friend’s uncle was having an event at the Claw Daddy Restaurant along Bonifacio High Street and we decided to pay him a visit. Our effort was not wasted, as we were offered with a free dinner and drinks at the Claw Daddy. We had a great time exchanging cultures with our Indian friend. The food was very good.

I took an early 4:30 am flight back to Davao via Philippine Airlines. I still have a class in the afternoon. It was a great weekend; I met lots of new friends and got to visit different cool places.

Asia’s Largest Art Show

Last week while I was in Metro Manila, I attend an art show featuring arts and photographs works from different artists in the country. These artworks will be displayed on billboards on leading streets in the metro. 

The objective of this event is to share to motorists and commuters alike the beauty of our art. That billboards are not only useful for advertizements, but for other noble causes as well. 

The event was held at Fully Booked Bonifacio High. Its really an experience, since this was my first time I attended such activities and meet bloggers. I learned new stuffs, and I was exposed to the “bloggers’ life”.

HellBoy 2 - The Golden Army

The Golden Army, an indestructible army built to destroy mankind was set to asleep by a truce between the elves and the humans. Prince Nuada, an exiled price of the elves returns to awaken the Golden Army and wage war to humankind. To control the Golden Army, one must possess the crown, that was divided into three parts by the elves king. One part was given to the  humans and the remaining two parts was kept by the elves. By combining the three crown pieces, the Golden Army awakens.

Now it is up to the BPRD (Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense), headed by Johann Krauss, an ectoplasmic being in a funny suit, HellBoy, pure brute power with an attitude, Liz Sherman, a firestarter and the rest of the gang to stop Prince Nuada’s evil plan and prevent the Golden Army from destroying the world.

This is a very exciting movie. Although I would that the previous HellBoy movie was better, this one won’t go unbeaten. I love the effects and the scenes. Don’t forget to review your troll tales, you will need them. I give this movie an 8 out of 10 rating. This is a must watch movie.

Righteous Kill

A series of killings put two veterans cop Turk (Robert De Niro) and Rooster (Al Pacino) into a ghost chase of a serial killer whose victims are unconvicted suspects. The killer has a signature, leaving a piece of paper with a poem that somewhat tells the reason why the victim is killed.

It is a tough nut to crack until the two finally faced the killer in an unexpected turn of events.

If you like cop stories, then this movie is for you. Veteran actors and award winners Robert de Niro and Al Pacino, put color to this movie. This is a cop movie you’ll love to watch. I give this movie a 7 out of 10 rating.

Babylon AD shows a picture of our world in a not so distant future where chaos and killings are everywhere. Only the powerful lives and the weak dies. The Sisters of the Dark Light is a religious group who wants to take this power by showing the world of a great miracle, the virgin birth.

Veteran-turned-mercenary Thoorop (Vin Diesel) was tasked to escort the a girl from Russia to America in return for his freedom and his chance to go back home. For Thoorop it was just an easy pick-up and drop the package routine, until he finds the reason for his mission.

This movie is simply awesome! I think this is one of Vin Diesel’s bests. It is a fast-paced, action-packed movie with lots of stunts and muscle power. I give this movie a 7 out of 10 rating. This is a Vin Diesel movie you don’t want to miss.

Bangkok Dangerous

Bankok Dangerous is a movie about a highly skilled assasin whose life is about to change forever. Joe (Nicolas Cage) is an assasin who works only for money and always gets the job done. Joe lives by his four rules.

• Rule #1: Never ask any questions.
• Rule #2: Never make ties with an outsider.
• Rule #3: Never leave any traces.
• Rule #4: Know when to get out.

Joe’s on for his last client where he will travel to Bankok Thailand and perform four assasinations. Get the job done and go home very rich. But some things in this city turn things around. Will Joe’s four rules help him get through? Or, will he discover something that is beyond his expectations?

For me, if its from Nicolas Cage, it must be good! But the movie fell short from my expectations. The story line is dull and didn’t gave justice to Cage’s efforts. It a good Cage movie but certainly not one of his bests. I give a 6 out of 10 rating for this movie. This is a movie worth watching.
